Give yourself a secure footing by digging your feet into the sand; your feet should be below the surface an inch or two. This will help you determine the texture and density of the sand. In wet, course sand the ball will come out faster and go further, so you will have to take a shorter swing. In fine powdery sand, the sand will slow the club down, so you will need to take a bigger swing.
