Grand Blanc, MI –  Genesys is the only hospital in Michigan and one of only three in the entire nation to earn certification for its hip fracture repair program.

Genesys also is the only hospital in the region and one of only five hospitals in the state to receive certification for its knee replacement and hip replacement services.

The Joint Commission recently awarded Genesys a full two-year certification in hip fracture repair, knee replacement and hip replacement. This designation is considered the gold seal of approval.

According to the Joint Commission, a certified facility must provide continuous safe, high quality care, treatment and services by identifying opportunities for improvement in processes. To earn and maintain certification, hospitals
must meet specific Joint Commission requirements that include compliance with consensus-based national standards and safety goals, effective use of evidence-based clinical practice guidelines to manage and optimize care, and an
organized approach to performance measurement and improvement activities.

Genesys opened its hip and knee replacement center more than 10 years ago. Patient satisfaction rates are 98.6 percent.

Other hospitals in the US to join Genesys as a certified facility for hip fracture repair are HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital of North Alabama and Exempla Lutheran Medical Center in Wheat Bridge, Colorado.

Genesys joins these four Michigan hospitals that earned full certification for hip replacement and knee replacement services: Oakwood in Dearborn, Providence in Southfield, Spectrum in Grand Rapids and Northern Michigan Regional Hospital in Petosky.
